I'm not entirely sure that the interpretation of Daniel to that extent could hold, but I'm certainly a sympathizer of this possibility. I'm just not entirely sure that one could escathologically go that far. Contextually it seems more secure to conclude that the number 10 related to the more immediate chain of events surrounding the Fall of the Roman Empire to the 10 principal "barbarian groups" of the time. But, it can also be that this could also be taken escathologically towards the future. Perhaps unlikely, but possible, I'd say.

There simply is no text in Daniel 2, or 8 or 9, that would hint or suggest at that though. There simply is no talk of a more "prominent toe" in those 10. These are just... "toes"...
