        Yes, in both cases. Gigadollars and dollars per citizen.

        Good point, John! Thanks for finding this large flaw in my analysis. I
guess we could waffle and tell people that the countries of the EU
out-export the US by a factor of 3 and leave it up to the listener to
figure out that most of that could be to each other's countries. OTOH,
some numbers I saw a few years ago show that exports outside the EU by
the EU countries had matched, at least, US exports. I vaguely recall
that I saw that on one of the Department of Commerce pages.
