I beg to **vehemently** differ!!! Like Han and others here I also hate and despise
this idiocy to death! The main reason is evidently that such hideous unit gets in
people's day-to-day parlance and all. Never mind if most of them would not have a
clue what size this represents. If they get to talk about it, use it and all, next
time it gets changed to an SI equivalent they'd certainly crow foul just the way
ifpists do when their "beloved" units get ditched! It's just human nature.

I preferred the good old days of the Canadian Airlines system which was much more
intelligent and was based in *points*. So many points would be required for free
flights and that's it. The so-called airmile system is actually like that. True,
when you fly you get the same amount of air miles people fly as "airmiles", but in
reality what you're getting is *points*! Why? Well, if you accumulated, say, 45
thousand "airmiles" that *should*, *in principle*, entitle you to a trip 45 thousand
"airmiles" far from your home place, no? Aha! Gotcha!!!

So, no. To me this is a hideous plot by these marketers to get the mile crap accepted
in people's minds so that hopefully they'd not object to an assault by the "other"
mile when the time comes!!!! :-( :-( :-(
