I think they stuck with quarts because they are assuming
that Americans can't turn around their measuring cups and use the other
side. And, even though they say use 500 g, they are in essence saying, use
the entire box.
My experience in watching others prepare meals using
measuring cups is they usually fill it to the top anyway, meaning that anyone
using that recipe will add 4 litres of water and not 4 quarts. Maybe they
should have written: 4 L or 4 quarts.
Why not write or call them and inquire about the use of
quarts?
