Pat,

NIST SP 330 is a nearly exact translation of the BIPM Brochure on the SI
into the language of American-English. SP 330, as an official government
publication by NIST is, therefore, the *primary* documentation of the SI
for use in the United States.

NIST SP 811 supplements SP 330 with guidance on many questions of style
and convention which are not prescribed by the CGPM or the BIPM. Some
of these details are ISO conventions. Some are merely NIST preferences
which have been enunciated by Barry Taylor (author of SP 811).

SI 10 is a guide for the use of SI developed by the IEEE and the ASTM,
two organizations in the US private sector.

NIST has not granted any preferential recognization of SI 10 relative to
SP 330 and SP 811 to the best of my knowledge.

Several other guides on SI from the US private sector are the USMA guide,
the ASME guide, the American Welding Society guide, etc.

Gene.
