Ma Be wrote: As for the other comment here about 'if only the British played harder' against Brazil... Hmm... Unfortunately it seems our friend didn't... "get it". That it would take a lot more than just "playing harder" to win against Brazil! ;-) The English, Ma Be, the ENGLISH, not the British!! Minor quibble aside, my comment wasn't about denigrating Brazil's skill as a football team (not soccer...uughh!!) but rather, after Ronaldihno's (very jammy) free kick caught David Seaman off his line and the ball curled in over his head, about England's woeful capitulation to Brazil in the last half hour of the game!! If they had shown HALF (or should that be 0.5) of the passion they displayed in beating Argentina (sweet revenge for Maradona's 'hand of God' goal and that Argentinian player who went over like a sack of hammers when Beckham tapped him gently on his leg and tricking the referee into sending him off in France '98), I believe we would have beaten Brazil and went on to the final!! Owen had scored and we were riding high. I can't complain about the way England were soundly beaten!! Brazil put up an excellent performance and we were outclassed. It was England's utter capitulation after the second goal I was commenting on, not Brazil's performance. In fact, as you probably knew, England were rooting for Brazil to win the final, as I knew they would do. (Note: However, who knows? Perhaps this could be their unique way to stop Brazil from continuing its reign and domination of the sport, he, he, he... :-) ) Now you're getting smug!! Stop it at once!! ;-) Regards, Steve.
