I only ever shop (for food) in supermarkets, so the only time I ask for quantity is at the deli counter, and that is limited to buying cheese once a week. I've never had any problems asking for 100 g or 200 g, but Sainsbury's have always been more positive than most other supermarkets. What I have noticed is the increased use of metric by other customers when I'm there. I've heard people asking for metric quantities, and across a range of ages. I doubt if many people ask for metric quantities at open-air markets, though. Chris -- UK Metric Association: http://www.metric.org.uk/
