Dear Don, Thank you for forwarding her email to me. Although I don't understand why you have to act as a "postman" since my email address is no secret.
My positive comments were however genuine and the comments on the MT content have nothing to do with the A4 size. The issue contained several articles written by members and directly reflecting their experience, which I sincerely found very interesting. In earlier issues I found articles that hardly had any point or had questionable writing techniques in my opinion. I will give an example that I remember well: "UDOT exec director's resignation prefaced by reversal from metric to ifp units". The title suggests that his resignation had or may have something to do with the reversal. After reading the article which said nothing more than that he resigned and the UDOT is back in ifp land, the reader realizes that the writer simply manipulated two unrelated facts to make-up a headline that in fact had no substance to it. That is cheap journalism! Subsequently, I criticized MT when it used an ironic tone to dismiss my arguments on the listserv about the A standard printing format being a 100% metric format. That article was not only poorly documented but it also ridiculed an USMA member simply for suggesting that printing MT on an ifp-based printing format does not make much sense. Which it doesn't/didn't! The fact is that the latest issue employs improved writing techniques, publishes articles by members with extensive experience in their particular field and yes, it has a better layout to my perception. This was my opinion and I chose to voice it out as well as I did the criticism. I praised and thanked all those who contributed to this change including the editor. I know that Valerie is still the editor since it is clearly written in MT. Why does she chose to twist my words around and ridicule my comments even when they are positive, is a mystery to me. The good news is that the association has a better publication even if the bad news is that I have been labelled "the dark side of the force" and I can't say anything that will be taken in a positive way. Interesting, how the crusade to make USMA use A4 page paper > suddenly makes my writing better. > > I admit that the format looks EXTREMELY better, even if I don't like > continuation of short articles and not being able to use as much metric news > because things are spread out more. BUT know that people probably don't > miss the extra news left out and it IS easier to read the more nicely > formatted articles. > -- __________________________________________________________ Sign-up for your own FREE Personalized E-mail at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup Save up to $160 by signing up for NetZero Platinum Internet service. http://www.netzero.net/?refcd=N2P0602NEP8
