Correct, of course, but at least they're on to the right system All they have to do is 
move the
decimal point around a bit which is a thousand times easier than having to learn a 
myriad of
unrelated conversion factors.

Let's hope US schoolchildren will be spared the pain of that type of conversion in the 
shortest time
possible.
