Hi all,

It was a refreshing change to read Dr B P Leonard's article on page 6 of
the current issue of MT. He was referring to his visit to New Zealand
and his observation that everything was fully metric there.

I say 'refreshing' because for 3 decades we, down under, have always been
looked down on by Americans for using the metric system as if only 3rd
world countries use the metric system.

Times are changing now that Americans are slowly realising that it is they
who are the odd ones out, and now as a result of not being aware of what's
going on in the world around them, they are now the only ones left to use
the inch-pound system.

Being the last to use the old system should, by rights, hasten their
resolve to 'join the club' and not risk being the world's laughing stock.

Best regards
