The August Weights & Measures Quarterly arrived at my house today. I was
delighted to see that the first two articles describe the recent
organizational changes at NIST in the Weights and Measures Division
(WMD, previously known as the Office of Weights and Measures or OWM).
The first article welcomes Ken Butcher to the Laws and Metric Group
(LMG), newly formed by combining the previous Laws and Regulations Group
and Metric Program Office. The staff includes Linda Crown, Tom Coleman,
Jim McCracken, and Bruce Barrow. The second article relates this
reorganization to other changes in structure (and name) in the WMD.

The third article is also quite interesting in that it describes a study
about to be undertaken, one which may provide some interesting data
regarding the activities of state weights and measures offices.
