The original posting showed a 1998 date.  Since then there are efforts on
the US side to change the laws to allow metric only labelling.  This will
make their concerns moot.  Also, such a proposal is not just an EU norm, it
will be an ISO standard, which means it is to be used and accepted by the
whole world, not just the EU and USA.  US interests may be able to resist EU
only efforts, but not world-wide.

I'm sure the AAMA and TABD will still try to resist even though the odds are
against them.  But, powers greater than theirs will prevail.
