In the process of doing some online shopping for equipment for our department we discovered a recent "upgrade to metric" event. Coronado, who makes telescopes, has discontinued their line of Helios 1 solar telescopes which were listed as having a 2.7 inch aperature and now make the NearStar solar telescope which has a 70 mm aperature. Yep, same size! By the way, Coronado used to be a US company then moved to Canada and has since moved to the UK, that hotbed of metrication. Oh, would that we too suffered so...
