Just to cause trouble, let me ask a question here:

Many on this forum have railed at one time or another about US meddling in 
the affairs of other countries, sticking its nose where it has no business, 
etc. I happen to agree that the USA does that (although we might argue over 
specific instances).

Now, as a US citizen, wouldn't I be doing the same thing if I gave support 
to this woman, regardless of how much I think she is being wronged by the 
British authorities?

What if the US ambassador issued some public statement on her behalf? (Yes, 
I know, that is not likely.) Wouldn't that still be meddling?

Do you support one country meddling in another's affairs when it is in your 
favor (e.g., pro-metric), and oppose it otherwise (e.g., anti-metric)?

Or is it always wrong or always right regardless of the cause?
