2002-10-19 World's tallest man claim October 20, 2002
AN Algerian man measuring 2.44m is the tallest man in the world, the Algerian news agency APS reports. Hmmmm. Doesn't anyone find it odd that 2.44 m is the standard conversion of 8 feet? Did the Algerian News Agency really report it as 2.44 m, or something else? Did the US press convert this from some more rational metric value to 8 feet and the Australian press converted the 8 feet to 2.44 m from the American press? I think I would have been a little more impressed if the height had been some value in metres that was not an exact value in FFU.
