International sign? Look - there will be enough fuss about turning
over to km/h. Getting the signs to be primarily metric will be hard
enough. We don't need to be introducing weird (at least to Americans)
concepts like numbers in circles for speed limits. It says right there
on the sign, "Speed Limit." Simple enough.
Now the tack-on sign for MPH is a good idea and would work just as
well.

Why not use the round international speed limit
sign? A small rectangular MPH sign tacked on below it which can be
removed at a later date when no longer needed?. The international sign
is a white round sing with the black km/h number encircled in red. If
you're hot on standards you should appreciate this.
