The Globe and Mail reported on October 25 "To receive the badge, he would have to hit 36 out of 40 targets ranging from 50 to 300 metres away". Note the change of spelling of metre, and the change of mood from indicative to conditional. Canadian Press normally translates Associated Press despatches from inch/pound to metric.
