Dear Han,

As some one who has suffered on the pillory of a PhD, congratulations and good luck with the future.

Remember they expect you to keep producing, so what it your next topic?

Has anyone on the list seen any photographs of the Italian School that collapsed? This is in my research area. This was the highest mortality rate for this size earthquake in more than a century. It does not bode well for a real big one in some other places in the world that have been quiet. At least the seismic measuring is in SI, although those pesky Engineers insist on period rather than frequency (usually) .
