My son received a catalog from some high-priced outfit selling high-end
audio equipment. I noticed in there that they had a section devoted to
cables of various sorts: coax, optical, twisted pair, etc. Except for
the speaker wire sets, all cable lengths were described in meters only
(and usually in whole numbers), no equivalents given in feet. The
speaker wire sets were described in feet only.

My impression is that the optical/electrical cable industry (at least
the portion aimed at computers and multimedia) is shifting to rational
metric or metric only labeling.
