My thoughts exactly as I was reading the article. Joe Six-pack does not
know that FFU is tied to the metric units. I doubt Joe Six-pack knows or
cares how his units are defined as long as he can ask for a 12 oz bottle or
can of beer and get it and it gives him a good buzz. Nothing more matters
to him.

BTW, what was the definition of a pound before it was defined relative to
the kilogram. Didn't they at one time grab 12 men coming out of a bar on a
Saturday night and make them cup their hands and fill them with barley corns
until they started to fall to the ground, weigh each guys holdings, take an
average and that was the pound for the week?

The pint was defined similar. 12 guys at random upon leaving said bar to
visit the outhouse, were told to pee in a container, the volume of the pee
was measured and divided by 12, the resultant being a pint. Talk about
holding your liquor.
