There have been several postings about why metric time (10 hours of
100 minutes of 100 seconds) and the metric calendar of 10 months were
dropped. I think I have already posted my analysis of these events,
but my software appears to have dropped it.
I think metric time was abandoned after two years because clocks
around the world had been built to read in 12 hours of 60 minutes of
60 seconds, and there was no indication that they would be changed.
The republican calendar was a different matter. It did not require
new hardware, but merely printing calendars, which would have been
done anyway. This 10-month calendar lasted until the defeat of
Napoleon.
