Again we're getting postings on metric time, and as
I said before this is a subject that should be on another
listserver.
Metric time is used extensively by professional
astronomers around the world and my astronomical software tells me that the
Julian date is 2452614.94339 (as at 2002-12-05 6:38:29 (UT)) where the day
number is to the left of the dec.point and the decimal time of the day is to the
right of the dec.point.
Now this decimal time has been in use for a long
time and it's fixed at that standard. If anyone wants to know the decimal
time anywhere in the world then they can get it from an astronomical site or
s/w.
As this is outside of our scope, can we please drop
the subject and concentrate on the most effective way of getting USA
metricated.
Sincerely
Mike Joy
