It was in Australia, not Canada. Its load rating is, of course, 1000 kg, not
2000 kg.

As the long ton (2240 lb) was never European (only British and British
Commonwealth), there never was an official Europeanized spelling (as far as
I know). The Italians had a word for it -- tonellata -- which they defined
as 1016 kg. (However, 1017 kg would have been more accurate.)
