I liked what I read in Jason's post. It is nice to see a person who is not
a scientist of some sort being a part of this forum, and most of his
observations make a lot of sense. There is a great deal of discussion here
about esoteric theories and ideas of converting time to "metric time" and
all that--which if fine for philosophical discussion purposes but has very
little to do with converting this
we-do-it-our-way-here-in-the-good-'ole-USA country to what I still like to
call "the metric system".
But I like the word millibar over hectopascal. The latter is overly long
and odd-sounding. "Bar" sounds of barometric, which everyone knows has to
do with air pressure. Most people know that "milli" means 1/1000 or
something small like that. But "pascal"? And "hecto"? Hey, Bub, watch
your language!
