Dear John and All, Today, the temperature was a little milder here 34C with light winds so the volunteer firemen were able to 'back burn' to produce 'control lines'.
They hope that the control lines will be effective over the next two days when the predictions are for 37C and 40C with strong northerly winds. I expect that we will be smoked out here in Geelong tomorrow as the winds bring the smoke from the Canberra and north-east Victorian regions. As I mentioned in an earlier post the fires are between 400kilometres and 750kilometres from Geelong so we are not threatened by these particular bush fires. Cheers, and thanks again for your concern, Pat Naughtin LCAMS Geelong, Australia
