Measuring distance by time is very common in the US. It sounded odd to me when I first encountered it. A couple of days ago, I was told that in Turkey they sometimes measure distance in cigarettes. As in 'they live 3 cigarettes away'. > As the Swedish mile was or is > exactly 10 km, there is indeed something wrong with the yards here. Well that is usenet for you. However, it was the first time that I considered that there were might be so many versions of mile.
