In Australia, our Prime Minister 'Howard' is 100% aligned with your
President 'Bush' in regards to his views and support towards this war
situation.

The media here quoted today that our Prime Minister will not be swayed by
any of our rallies or opinion polls to the contrary. The media also
reported that the US will reduce its 70,000 strong military personnel in
Germany, and will introduce additional levies and taxes on bottled water and
wine from France. Both due to their aniti-war, or anti-US stances.

>From what I understand about the US, I do not believe the issues with the
non English speaking Europe will have any more impact on introducing metric
in the US, than a fully metric country as Australia providing our
recommendation to do so.

We have been told we, are either with the US or against it, there is no
other choice... I don't think metric is in the equation, even if our Prime
Minister attempted to do so.

John asked:
I wonder if Americans will come to hate the metric system because of its
French origins.?
For those prepared to use the voting button at the top of this email for the
John's interesting question, I will submit the result.

Very interesting article on a Germany that is saying NO to the US. This is
part of the movement towards a strong Europe that will be able to say NO to
the TABD when it demands another extension in 2010.

It will be very interesting to see how the strain in relations between the
US and Europe will affect the future of metric in the US. Any ideas?
