Here we go again... charging against the megagram thing.  However, the fact of the matter remains and is u-n-d-e-n-i-a-b-l-e, if g and mg ARE acceptable practice, Mg should, too, period!!!  Let's notice that both g and mg are NOT decimal multiples of the kg for the simple reason that the *k* is not in EITHER of these "prefixed units"!

All this because BIPM and CGPM failed to address the all important fundamental, critical issue: that a base unit should NEVER contain a prefix!!!  Come up with a new name for the kg itself and voil`, no more problem, end of discussion!  ;-)
