3. Rational.

US metrication is political, social, and economic process,
and it must be enacted in phases. A change in measurement in one area of life is going 
to change the method of measurement in other areas. One example could be the 
automobile odometer, as there needs to be a way to account for the future tabulations 
of travel in kilometers with the millions of US vehicles using traditional odometers. 
The experience of other recently metricated nations (Canada, Australia, South Africa) 
ought to be carefully consulted in this and similar issues. 

While such planning is essential, so is prudence. This list saw a huge discussion over 
the implications of changing the dimensions of the game of football to meters, and 
such a change ought to be well-debated in light of the furor it might cause in the 
sports world. Some changes might be best postponed for a long time, or even omitted.  
Common sense must rule.
