On the contrary, metric weather reports can be one of the first things converted. They are issued by the government and involve no coercion of the general public. My favorite radio station announces present temperatures in both Celsius and Fahenheit degrees, presumablly because they use their own thermometers, but they give forecasts in Celsius only because they come from the government, and the radio ststion can't be bothered to translate them into Fahrenheit.
