Actually, not entirely true, Carleton.  Simple, quote prices by the square decimeter 
then.  As a matter of fact, square meterage of buildings, etc would be better served 
if quoted to that level of accuracy!  By doing so, buying carpets would be a breeze.

Example: Say the area of my living room is 9.57 m2.  If price is 15.5 cents per dm2, 
final price would simply be: 957 x .155!
