We've had this discussion before -- although it was probably during your
hiatus from the list.

The radian has all the great qualities of mathematical elegance and none of
the qualities of an everyday, practical, understandable unit.

If you want to frighten the average person with respect to the metric
system, by all means use the radian. If you want to convince people of the
simplicity and practicality of the metric system, use the degree (or, in
some applications, the grad).
