Except that Pat's proposal is in essence exactly the same as the framework for the 
grade/gon.  The only difference is in the number of decimal places.  While there would 
be 100 gr to a 1/4 circle, there would be 1000 mq to the same quarter circle in Pat's 
proposal.

As we've debated this before though I'd still favor the gon over the quad simply due 
to its slightly "smaller" value and association with the percentage and "money" 
concepts.  People seem to feel more comfortable around 2 digits rather than 3 (however 
I do concede this not necessarily being the case in some applications, like the gram 
and the milliliter).

What I mean is, 0.01 gr could simply mean 1 km for aviation navigation if the "right" 
diameter is adopted for the circumference of the earth.  So, aviation (and the 
military) could use angles to two decimal places, just like with money, among other 
things.
