Quite right. kg/cm2 is a hangover from the metre - kilogram (force) - second system that was used bu European engineers before SI. In that system
force (kilograms) = mass (kilograms) X acceleration / g


That confusion berween mass and force also existed in sterling engineering. The Professor of Engineering at McMaster University, Hanilton, Ontario, declared that SI was only true at a point in space where the acceleration due to gravity is 1 metre / second2
