I got that he was referring to the international symbol signs, not as much the metric speed limits.
I wish we'd go with the international symbol street signs. What is the American reliance on words notifying everything? Kinda like the whole BRAKE light requirement. Notice on any car in American and there are icons and symbols everywhere, except BRAKE (for the parking brake). Everywhere else in the world, it's (!). Some cars in America show both the (!) and BRAKE, but are we morons? Why do we need BRAKE? I think it's just a legacy rule that's never been changed....but car manufacturers must provide for that rule even today.
