The metric bible, "Le Syst�me internatioanl d unit�s" in the English
preface to the 7th edition says:
"a point to notice is that slight spelling variations occur in the
language of the Anglish-speaking countries (for instance, "metre" and
"meter", "litre" and "liter"). In this respect, the Engiish text
presented here follows the International Standard ISO 31 (1992),
