Hmmm...  This gives me an idea.  Why don't we (the USMA and supporters)
band together to provide a meter stick to every public school classroom
in America for National Metric Week 2004 (elementary, middle, and high school)?

Here are 4 good reasons:
1) The price at that volume should be relatively reasonable (single
sticks are $1.99, and I bet we could get a big discount from the manufacturer);
2) It would be a positive way to support public schools, providing a
practical classroom resource, at no cost to them;
3) It would encourage the teaching of the metric system all across the country;
4) It should generate large-scale posititive media attention during
National Metric Week.

What do you think?
