In USMA 27237 Marcus asks for a symbol for year.
As others have reported, BIPM has no symbol for year.

IEEE/ASTM SI10 shows  "year of 365 days (y)"  on page 33.
Note that this is in Annex B.  Annex B is "informative" which 
is to say it is not part of the standard.

ISO 1000-1992 lists time units in Annex A (normative) on 
page 8 in item 1-7.  "Normative" means it is part of the standard.
In the remarks column 7 is this note:
    Other units such as week, month and year (a) 
    are in common use. The definitions of month and 
    year often need to be specified.

ISO 31-1992 lists time units in Annex B (informative) 
Other non-SI units.  On page 11 in item 1-7 under "Name of 
unit with symbol" we see
