While we are splitting hairs over whether or not the litre is an SI unit or metric unit or unit accepted for use with SI or whatever, why don't they fix the kilogram?
It is the only SI base unit with an SI prefix as part of its name. Why don't we say "millikilogram" or "kilokilogram?" It may be coherent but not very logical.
(I know, I know, the gram is too small a unit to be used.) Why not just rename the kilogram to something different, keeping the mass the same but just changing the name?
Human beings made up the SI, so the SI isn't as perfect as you would like it to be. Why can't we just say that the litre is metric and the kilogram is metric and leave it at that?
WHO CARES if the litre is not SI??????????
