Why would the BWMA give an award to someone who wants to violate the pint
only law?

Austrian restaurateur wins annual BWMA award

(May 24th, 2003)

Andrea Schutz, Worchester-based Austrian restaurateur, has won BWMA's
Inch-Perfect award for 2003. The award was presented to Andrea at BWMA's
annual Conference, held in London on 24th May and attended by over a hundred
people. The award is given to individuals or organisations that do most to
preserve freedom of choice in measurement. Andrea was nominated due to her
withstanding of threats of criminal prosecution for offering customers the
choice of drinking beer in traditional Austrian flutes and steins.

Other guests at the Conference included director of the Metric Martyr
Defence Fund Neil Herron, and Derek Turner, editor of the magazine Right
Now. The Conference was also delighted to see Steven Fretwell, a butcher who
uses only lb/oz weighing machines.
