Surely, the UKMA favors at least "metric units" if not more specifically
*SI Units*.

Did you mean to write that you found no UKMA preferences for particular
*SI prefixes* to form submultiples of SI Units? e.g. centi versus milli?

Some readers may not yet be aware that in SI, multiples and submultiples
of SI Units are not separate and distinct "units" in their own right
apart from the SI Units from which they are generated.

However, Joe, I'm certain that you are aware of this fact.

Because of the *equal status* of the prefixes centi and milli in the BIPM
Brochure, there is little justification for efforts to force universal
preference for one or the other prefix.

Specialists in the various sectors of industry or commerce are free
to choose prefixes of most convenience in their respective disciplines,
but they are mistaken if they believe that particular prefixs are best
for all applications.

Gene.
