I checked on that recently, since I don't want anyone taking me to task
in the Physics course that I adjunct. Believe it or not, the online
dictionaries (www.yourdictionary.com and www.dictionary.com ) do give
equal precedence to both pronunciations, and I have to assume the
traditional print dictionaries as well.

But I still say KILL-oh-meet-ur in all my classes, the other just makes
no sense.

Metric Today, 2003 Nov-Dec states on page 6 "no authority has set a rule
for the pronunciation of SI units in the English language".

The USMA web site at
http://lamar.colostate.edu/~hillger/correct.htm
states "The *pronunciation* of the word, kilometer, is KILL-oh-meet-ur
(not kill-AHM-it-ur)".
