As you might already have seen, the misc.metric-system ballot passed
with 211 yes to 25 no votes:

The new discussion newsgroup misc.metric-system should show up within
the next two weeks in over a hundred thousand USENET NNTP servers all
over the planet.

If you use Microsoft Outlook and you have never used USENET newsgroups,
then please try this:

To get started, type "newsgroups" into the help system of Microsoft
Outlook. To activate newsgroup under Outlook, select the menue
View | Go To | News.

There you will be asked, via which "NNTP server" you want to access
newsgroups. Your Internet service provider will have sent you this
information, lists it on his web site under "Support" or will be able to
help you.

For example, my Internet Service Provider NTL.com has this information on

  http://www.ntlworld.com/help/generalHelp/settings.html

where it says that NTL customers should access newsgroups via the newsserver

  news.ntlworld.com

Many web browsers also support newsgroups access, and there are many
specialized "newsreader" programs available (including some that are
over 20 years old).
