I believe this is off topic, please find an economic list or go private to discuss this issue!! I disagree. If you had read the comments previous to yours, you would have seen that we were debating the effect the dollar on the US trade position. The US has been reluctant to metricate. Would a weak dollar bring about a weak US economy? Will such a weak economy be forced to pay off its debts by repatriating its exported industries and also pay more attention to the metric issue when designing, manufacturing and marketing products for export? Or will the US first try to force FFU on the world markets? Would a collapse of the US economy be a friend or a foe to metrication? A strong EU and Asian economies could be a force behind a reintroduction of the metrication issue into the US economy if the US economy is forced to reorganize after a major collapse. They could in fact force the US to metricate. Does anyone see this scenario being played out? This is what I was leading up to. So it is on topic.
