A bit radical good sir. I believe that would only make things worse not help. What we
need to do (and to some extent have) is listen to their concerns and work with them
without compromising our goal. For example, we allow developers to submit permits in
English unites. If we force them to use metric they would complain so loud that the
politicians would listen (remember developers have lots of money and influence) and
metric would be crushed back to the stone age.

One should find out what contractors are behind this attempt to force New
York back to FFU, and BLACKLIST them.

Don't submit bids to them and if you have to never chose them. If you are
forced to use them, find fault with their work. This should help nip this
plague in the bud.

I contacted someone in our Albany Main Office for clarification, you can
read below but it sounds good. If I hear any action on the legislative front
I will let you know (some of you have a better ear to the ground than I do
and might hear before me).

Response from MO:

The Department has not wavered from it's position that we will be metric.
I attended the last AGC-DOT meeting that is referred to, I don't recall the
Department's response being any different than in the past - we are metric
and we plan to stay that way (of course, the Department may not have final
say...as in some other states, the DOT's were legislated back to English).
I am unaware of any "task-force" that has been created to discuss going back
to English units. The Department and AGC agreed to reach out to their
members/employees what current practices are regarding use of metric and how
comfortable workers are with the metric system.
