All U.S. cars were already metric in 1991. No doubt spares for them, manufactured in China, are metric too. The starter is not necessarily Chinese of course -- just manufactured in China.

I was talking to a friend of mine tonight from Washington State he just replaced the starter on his 91 Ford Victoria.  He told me that the new starter was made in China.  The fasteners on the starter that hold it together are probably metric.  Probably most items that come from China that use bolts use metric i don't know if they use inch bolts at all.  John.
