Laura Neilson Bonikowsky was born in Ontario to a military family more years ago than she will reveal. She has lived and travelled across Canada, the United States and Europe, finally moving to Edmonton, Alberta in 1989. She studied English at the University of Alberta, earning an Honors BA and an MA. She has been published in Sensibilities , the publication of the Jane Austen Society of Australia, and is the illustrator of A Collection of Letters by Jane Austen , published by the Juvenilia Press at the University of > Alberta.
Laura’s work as a Subject Editor with The Canadian Encyclopedia allows her to combine her passion for communication with an interest in things of a more technical nature, editing articles in the areas of science, technology and medicine. Laura is also co-writer of Historica’s column, “Dejà View,” published by Southam newspapers. Besides reading and writing, Laura enjoys drawing, painting, sewing and has recently taken up quilting.
I found the following bio. for the author of that article in the
Edmonton Journal - I think. I did a Google search and found only a
listing for this name with the middle name spelled "Neilsen" instead of
"Neilson". Yet the bio (reproduced below) shoed her name as "Nielson".
However, I have retraced my steps and have not been able to reproduce
the error. This woman is a writer and editor and lives in Edmonton, so
it seems reasonable that I have the right one. I wish the source would
have given me an email or mailing address. it might have been
interesting to write to the lady. I may try that by writing her in care
of the Edmonton Journal.
