That's not necessarily true.
Yes, you are probably correct. I did mean people using the English language, however, so your reference to other nationalities is aside, but you probably are correct even for users of English. That particular comment of mine was clouded by my wishful thinking and I had no hard evidence to back it up.
I still believe it is better to use metre and litre but I shouldn't have claimed that that was the majority opinion.
