Does anyone know when the next issue of Metric Today will be released?� Do you think it will have the FPLA report in it?
I just received my copy the latest edition of Metric Today (2004 Jan-Feb). There is no mention of an "FPLA Report". However, there was a report on the forum, sponsored by NIST and NCWM. that was held on the subject of proposed amendments to FPLA (Fair Packaging and Labeling Act), specifically the proposed amendment to allow metric only labeling. (Pg. 6, "NIST Forum Shows Strong Support for Optional Metric-Only Labeling")
No firm date has been set for proposing the amendments to Congress, in part at least because of the feeling of some participants at the forum that uniform rules for unit pricing in metric should be worked out and proposed simultaneously with making metric-only labeling permissible. Generally, however, the attitude of participants was favorable to allowing metric only labeling.
