Actually there would be no need to change anything to the number quoted as x.x liters 
per 100 km.  In reality this ratio should be understood as: x.x daL/Mm!!!

In other words, think of, say, 4.9, as actually 4.9 dekaliters per megameter!  ;-)

Funny that the industry didn't think of that before...  :-)
